My 2000 Olds Alero struggles up hills, why?

It has an auto trannny, and it seems to struggle up hills. It almost seems as if the enigne isn't getting enough fuel air mixture. It seems to "chug" up hills, sort of hesitating even at a constant throttle. Anyone know the cause of this?
