On the track to be a college professor?

You don't need any education courses or background to be a professor at a college - so if that's why you're taking the education courses, you might as well not bother. You can't move up from high school teacher to college teacher - there's different degrees and training for both. Pick one or the other. For a college professor, you'll need a PhD in your field to teach at the 4-year college or university level. You can apply for a PhD program with a bachelors and earn your masters degree en route to the PhD (you'll spend the first few years taking masters courses).
