Is this normal during prenancy?

My ex is prego, and she called today upset that she has been bleeding off and on, with lots of extreme cramps. Is this normal? I told her to call her doctor, but kaiser is kinda giving her the run around. The said they wouldnt be able to see her until Sept 17. Are these symptoms normal?
