Which do I learn, for a beginner in programming Python or Pascal ?

You learn something even more basic C, C++, or C#. You shouldn't jump into a high level programming language right away or you will find yourself getting more and more frustrated because of the lack of understanding of code language. If you are truly a beginner I believe it would be better to delve into intermediate to beginner level languages.
